I want my player to work on skills, but she hasn’t played club soccer, is this for him/her?
This program is for everybody. Every week there will be training sessions designed to improve the technical ability of the individual. Games will be a reward for all their hard work in practice.
Is this only for club players?
No, this program is for beginners, intermediate, and advanced. There are no club players registered for this program. This is for players that want an extra three months of training & games, want to get exposure to higher level training & instructional coaching, and players that want to take their soccer to the next level (Whatever that may be for the individual).
What is the practice schedule?
The practice schedule is Tuesday and Friday - 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. We will run training for all the age groups during the same time. We are encouraging you to attend both training sessions however there will be no consequence if you have to miss.
Are players divided into teams for training?
Our primary focus is on the training and all training will be run like the Academy / Camps. After we spend some time with players, we will assemble teams for the different play dates.
What days are games?
Games are primarily on Saturdays. There may be some Sunday games and this will be communicated well in advance.
How often will they play?
Throughout the program, players will play from 9 - 16 games. We will organize scrimmages within the Academy, invite teams in for a friendly game, and there will be an opportunity to attend tournaments if you choose.
What is 8v8 soccer?
7 field players and 1 goalie. We are targeted to have 2 teams of 12 per age group. We are allowed a maximum roster of 14 players per team.
Does 8v8 soccer include goalies? YES!
Is there goalkeeper training?
Yes, we have 5 Goalkeeper coaches on staff. Our director of Goalkeeping is Zak Abdel who is currently the US Mens National Team goalkeeper coach and Chivas USA gk coach. He and other staff will be working with the goalkeepers on occasion. Training sessions will also build around the goalkeeper as well.
Do you have anything for older players?
If there is enough interest, we have the possibility of working with the U11 age group. All players would need to be born on or after 8/1/97. You can register but we will not accept payment until the group is finalized. For players above U11 we have year- round teams that you are more then welcome to tryout for. Click here to fill-out tryout request. (interest in club teams only)
I still have more questions, who do I contact?
Our Director, Josh Hodges is more than happy to answer your questions/concerns. He can be reached at glendorasoccer@aol.com or (626) 347-2554.
